Fashion Friday: What’s The Best Maxi for All? A Chevron Stripe A-Line One.

Maxi dresses are one of the highlights of Spring and Summer fashion. A dress you can wear casually or out on the town that feels like pajamas? Yes please! Only problem is a maxi easily ends up looking like maternity garb or a moo moo, and the vertically challenged ladies can get lost in one. Enter the A-Line Chevron Stripe Maxi Dress.

The A-Line cut solves the moo moo effect of a maxi and the chevron stripe lengthens the appearance of the wearer, making those sporting it look taller and leaner. And…wait for it….Old Navy has one this season. Me and Baby E, keeping you on-trend and on budget.

For Spring pair it with a cropped cardi or cropped jacket (the cropped jean jacket is making another appearance in this edition of Fashion Friday) and add a pair of wedges for additional height while keeping it casual. On a side note I look particularly serious in many of these pictures, not intentional at all, I was apparently having deep thoughts.

A cropped jacket allows the the chevron stripe pattern to draw the eyes in for a long lean look while adding an extra layer.

The lovely chevron stripe even makes the backside look better.

And without the jacket. Still a lovely piece. The cascading coral necklace here compliments the pattern and draws the eyes up, a good trick for elongating your appearance.

To keep it all light and airy I went with shimmering pastel blue and brown eye shadows along with coral lips, and tied it all together with blue earrings.

  1. Cute outfit! I’m one of those vertically challenged mom’s and Maxi dresses and I don’t get along too well. I’ll have to go try one of these on. 🙂

    • Definitely do! And this one isn’t made of a heavy material, it’s light cotton with a little stretch so it doesn’t hang as much as some others.

  2. I love that dress! I’m having a really hard time finding dresses that work with my post-baby (times two) body and I’m still getting adjusted to shopping. I think it’s quite possible that style dress would work though. And I’ve been seeing a lot of jean jackets on the racks but wasn’t so sure but now I’m leaning towards it. Thanks for the tips!

    • Julie I’m glad you like it! I went a size up as although it’s a line, it’s still a bit clingy. I actually work part time as a personal stylist, and I specialize in working with moms, as our bodies change so much after babies, whether we lose the weight or not. Learning to dress our “new” selves can be quite challenging. Feel free to email me at meandbaby.e@gmail.com if you have any questions on styling yourself!
      Thanks for stopping by 🙂
