OK, so let’s be fair, Best Smoothie I Have Ever Tried. There may be a better smoothie out there, but I have yet to have it. I’ve had bags of cut frozen bananas in my freezer with the intention of making banana faux-ice cream. Having yet to do this, I decided instead to experiment on Saturday with a breakfast smoothie.
The texture and taste is of a milkshake, with the frozen bananas acting as the “ice cream”.
Ingredients:
1 Cut frozen medium banana (cut then freeze!)
1 Handful of blueberries (about a 1/2 C)
1 Handful of baby spinach (again, about a 1/2 C)
½ C of almond milk (add more as needed for blending purposes)
Other possible additions:
Protein powder
Ground flax seed
Chia seeds
Use your imagination!!
Place ingredients in blender, and blend away! You will want to start on the lowest setting and work your way up to get all the frozen chunks chopped then blended (clearly if you have a Vitamix, no worries, just blend!)
And Voila!
A delicious, gluten and dairy free super healthy smoothie weighing in at only 170 calories!
Baby E loved the taste as well, and the cold was great for her teething gums. I put more bags of cut bananas into the freezer as we will be making this again very soon!
Happy Blending!
This looks delicious and healthy! Thanks for sharing it with the Let’s Get Real party.
